We currently have four hens. Only one is laying, but she’s giving us 5 eggs a week on average. The weird thing is, they’re all either double or TRIPLE yolks. I hear double is pretty common, especially when they haven’t been laying long... but I’m hearing this triple yolk thing is rare, and it happens every couple days!? Any idea what’s causing it?

Is she new layer...a high production hybrid breed??
Not really good for their ovary to be spitting out so many yolks,
can portend possible reproductive system problems down the road.

I wish I had pictures, but I had an Easter Egger hen that routinely shot out triple yolks. Although thinking about it, it does make sense that it would take a toll on their body. Perhaps that’s why she passed young :idunno

I have a Golden Sexlink that lays huge eggs and the last one had triple yolks. Honestly they are double the size of a normal large size chicken egg. I have no idea how she manages to lay those huge eggs......poor girl.

We get triple yolks at least weekly from one of our sexlinks. We call her Chickasaurus because she is a very large and heavy hen. She thinks she is a lapdog though, the picture attached is her sitting on my stomach while my son and I were enjoying the sun. :)
