I have discovered that my chickens love Sheba “Perfect Portions” cat food. I put one of my 600 mg Calcium/vitamin D caplets in a folded paper towel, crush it with a knife handle, and stir it into the cat food (in a small bowl.) It’s vacuumed up in minutes.
I paid $1.28 per two-pack at the grocery store. I wouldn’t use it as my cat’s main food (she’d need 6 two-packs a day
), but it’s great for sneaking in pills, and gives them a bit of protein in the process.
Definitely not for long-term chicken feed!
