Okay, so we used yesterdays huge 3 1/2 ounce egg and it was a triple yolker. Totay when I collected eggs we have a similar sized and weight egg to our triple yolker. What are the odds of having a hen lay triple yolkers on a regular basis? Is it normal? We are consistently getting 5 eggs daily, though there is usually one or two soft shelled eggs in the batch from 12 chicks who are now 17 weeks old. Help...I think I need advise on this one. Any words of encouragement would be great. We also ended up with 3 double yolker eggs. Am I doing something wrong, or are they just over productive chickens?

I'm gonna take a guess here say that you have some Buff Orpingtons..... Triples are not very common but they are in larger birds when they first start laying. Doubles are more common in new layers.....

I think they are buff Orps. We originally bought them as RR's but others here have said no, that they are cinnamon queen, red sex link, and BO's...I don't care what they are at this point. I am just happy they are laying. I am a bit surprised that we have gotten two in two days of such a large egg. I am in awe of whoever is the layer of that egg.
