I recently acquired ALOT of chickens from my grandfather who is no longer able to care for them. The majority of them are White Rock , there are 8 juvenile ones that are maybe 3-4 months old and I'm having a hard time picking the roosters from the hens. Being that they are all white it's hard for me to tell if their saddle feathers are there or not. I have noticed that a few of their legs are more yellow than others ,not sure if that is a rooster trait or not. Can anyone help?

How lucky you are to get those White Rock's! I have been looking for some of those! As far as us helping you to discover the cockerels from the pullet's, it would help to post pictures of them for us to see. By the way, welcome to BYC!

Thank you for the welcome! I need all the help I can get right now! I will try my best to take pics of them tomorrow, any parts I need to focus on?

Picture's that will show the combs and wattles will help, because the males should have the bigger and darker pink colored one's. Sometime looking at the tail shapes will also help. I have white chickens also.

Welcome to the forum. At three to four months the photos I'd like to see is a head shot showing comb and wattles. Also a shot showing legs, posture, and body conformation. If that profile shot can show saddle or hackle feathers you probably don't need a third shot of those. A cockerels tail feather may be curling already so curling tail feathers is a give-away. The problem is that at that age straight tail feathers do not always signify a pullet. That profile picture is important to me. Please group them so we can tell which chicken is which.

At that age some Rock pullets can have some pretty large combs but the size of the wattles give a good clue. Also, on a male they both should be more red than pink or orange. Cockerels normally have thicker and sometimes longer legs than pullets and usually have a more upright stance. It seems you know about the saddle feathers being pointy or round.

Comb and wattle would be best indicator at that age(3-4mo),
saddle and hackle might not be present yet.
Waiting for pics :caf
