trouble in the Neighbor

I am currently caring for my 92 year old father who is in the late stages of Alzheimer's. What you are describing sounds nothing like what my dad went through. However, my oldest sister suffers from mental illness, and your descriptions are spot on. She is careless with things and miss places items, and her first thought when something isn't where she thought it should be, is that someone stole it. Living with these conditions is a horrible curse for those afflicted with mental illness and or Alzheimer's. I know it may be hard, but try to show compassion towards your neighbor. It may be the only bright spot in a otherwise miserable existence.

That's a good point. There is early onset alzhimers and dementia and the signs very from person to person (like I said, some people are mean but my grandpa got super nice... go figure, lucky me in that one!), but if that doesn't sound right it could be a mental illness. Although if the neighbor is able to function well enough to live and doesn't want help, there aren't very many resources available to get those in need who don't want help treated for there mental illness
