My chick who had a tough time coming into the world is still alive and chirping but won't eat or drink on its own and hasn't from the begining. All the other chicks are 3 times its size. I'm not sure what is keeping it alive other than the drops of electrolytes and vitamins from my eyedropper. Should I keep giving it drops or let nature take its course. It's heart wrenching and I don't know what to do. Each morning I expect to see it expired but it is still here. Am I missing something?

I have had a chick that didn't eat right away. I actually thought she was blind but later found that wasn't the case. WHat I did was mix egg yolk and a spoonful of yogurt together and syringe fed that until I could pick up formula. Atleast with the egg I knew she was getting the protein that was needed. After 3 days of syringe feeding formula she started eating like a real chicken...LOL. I just had to tap the dishes with my finger and she followed. Good luck! Please keep us posted.

Thanks for replying. When you say you gave it yoke and yogurt until you could pick up formula, what kind? Just gave the chick the first dropper of yolk & yogurt.

Hope your little one is coming along!

He has lots of specks of kaytee extract on him....I'm not the most efficient chick mom....but he is standing and chirping. In fact I worry about that as well. He sleeps on his feet and apart from the other chicks. I'm not even sure WHAT to worry about at this point since I"m losing sleep over everything.
