I have a silkie hen who has started to look like one of those fancy pigeons with her chest all puffed up and it seems to overbalance her It is obviously somehing wrong with her crop us there any treatment or does she need to see the vet Thanks

You need to check her crop early in the morning, before she has ANYTHING to eat. Some of my hens are pigs--and they are also the best layers, but they go around most of the day with their crops stuffed. Looking like Dolly Parton minus one breast. IF the crop is not going down over night, then you may have issues. You could be proactive and give her a little bread soaked in olive oil. Does she have free access to grit?

Hi Thanks for the info, she doesnt have free access to grit shall I put some in her pen,I have seperated her, still pooping
