Trouble with the neighbor.

The name that comes up on whitepages.com is the same name as was on the pizza order. I'd call that good enough for me, but perhaps I can get a police report tomorrow. Shall see

Tala, you can also look up his address with your property taxing entity or the appraisal district. Their index should be searchable by address. Your most certain conformation will be the police report. It may have other identifyers like DOB and such; those will be helpful in confirming if it is him in the clerk's files....

Edit; I just thought of something else. He may not be the owner of the house. That would even be better. You could find out who owns the house if he is just renting and complain to the landlord. Might get him kicked out of the house and your neighborhood!

I spent all afternoon moving and rebuilding the bachelor pad at my in-law's property. They have 3 acres in a more rural area of the city (still in the city limits though) that they don't live on. It is unfenced and fairly grown up, and has an overpopulation of mosquitoes and ticks.
I had to buy a roll of welded wire to cover it in, because out there in the "boonies" chicken wire and deer netting won't cut it. I have seen a fox on their property and it scares me about putting my birds there, but others in the area also have chickens so it must be do-able. ETA: They have electric out there for lights and stuff, so tomorrow we are going to run electric to the coop area so I can set up a perimeter hot wire.

I'm willing to move the bachelors without much fuss, because yes 19 roos is a bit much. I was hoping to be able to keep them around until butchering, and like I said, the other neighbors understood and even volunteered to help with the processing!!!! Just takes one horse's rear.....

Im going to fight to keep my hens of course, but even if I have to hide them temporarily my broody ain't goin nowhere. Last time I moved a broody she went decidedly un-broody

AWESOME IDEA!!! He was standing IN MY YARD up by my back porch (side of the house) in front of my truck so not even in the driveway, but fully in the yard. He was standing less than 3-4 ft from a large NO TRESSPASSING sign as well.

He claimed that he was gathering "evidence" for the DA, but obviously he doesn't know that without a search warrent they can't USE anything he obtains illegally. Real bright this guy is, I'm tellin ya!

If he claimed he was gathering evidence for the DA, then he was posing as an official for the DA's office (much like inpersonating a police officer). I would call the DA's office and raise caine with them, even though you know he is lying (don't tell them that). I would call and ask for the DA and tell him/her that they should know better than to send someone without a warrant to harrass you and tresspass on your property. They will then probably tell you that they didn't do that and you tell them that <insert nieghbor's name> came over onto your posted property and was videotaping and when you asked him what he was doing then he said he was gathering evidence for the DA. When the DA says they have nothing to do with that then you can say well was he working for you or not, because if he wasn't then he was impersonating an officer of the court and the DA should be prosecuting him but if he isn't prosecuted then you must assume that he was working for the DA and you are going to contact the State Attorney General. That should put some fire under the DA's butt to investigate the neighbor, if they do arrest him then they might want to negociate with you and you could ask to keep your chickens.

I went to the DA's office today. They were very little help, even though I told them that he claimed he was videotaping for their office they just said "well he wasn't" like it wasn't their problem to solve.
I filled out a page requesting charges - I put about him tresspassing, that he was in clear view of the sign, video taping and claiming to be from the DA's office......they said that they need a police report and a statement from my DH (who sleeps during regular business hours....) I verbally stated that he frequently comes over before 6am while my husband is gone, that he has anger management issues and that I'm afraid of him --- need to get that in writing somewhere "official" . . . anyway
SO I hit up the atm for cash for a police report coz they don't take cards, and the lady at the desk said the only thing she had on her screen was that "the call was handled by officer ______ " - no report.

They also said that I have to get a civil attorney for a restraing order. I may be able to do that, if it doesn't cost too much.

I'm very

with the way that the LEOs are not taking this seriously! I have to go to work now though and my next day off is Sunday when all of the offices are closed

Needing an attorney for a restraining order? That is ridiculous. Ask them to put that in writing. Anc call the police again, and ask to speak to the investigating officer. Tell him you NEED of the report he should have filed. In a separate call to the police (maybe do this one first) ask what is required to obtain a restraining order.

A restraining order is the result of a civil action. What you are looking for may be called an order for protection or something similar in your state. It may be something you obtain from a lower court like a justice of the peace; check with them also. Some prosecutor is bound to file cases like this. ( In my state, the DA only handles the most serious of crimes; things you would go to prison for. )

There is probably something similar to our 'tresspass warning' also. It is given by the police to the tresspasser so that if he comes back, he will be arrested for tresspassing on the spot. Again, this is in Texas. You may have something similar, but I bet you have something.

If you can't go to the police station in person, call them back and ask for the investigator on duty. Tell him or her that you are the victim of a terroristic threat and then tresspassing from the individual representing that he was acting on the part of the DA's office and that you want to press charges for all offenses. Ask them to file a complaint on your behalf. If the police will not do their job (don't be surprised if they won't), call your city council member or alderman and complain. Tell everyone you talk to that you are in fear for your safety. I don't have time to do it now, but I'll look on LawHelp.org to see if they have some info for you too. Don't take no for an answer.
