Troubles at our Tractor Supply Company!

Jeez! I am not surprised about that. They could not have been any worse than the hatchery doing with male chicks. If they could not sell them, either donate them to a farmer that would eat or use them or take them to the vet to be put down or put them down in an quick manner.

I really think the bigger issue is that there were chicks in there that were not dead...

The issue is NOT that there were dead chicks (but surely there are requirements for disposing remains - not in a dumpster), but that they threw ones away that were alive! What???

I know that's the bigger issue by far. Didn't mean to seem like I was downplaying that part. I was just wondering on the other part, too. Sorry for the unclear post.

Im sorry I wasnt trying to say you downplayed it.. Personally the disposal issues seems kinda silly to me.. I have thrown away a dead chick due to frozen ground before.. I am just outraged that they put live chicks in with them .. I am sure they thought they would just suffocate but thats just cruel.. It is so simple to cull a chick .. Just takes thumb and forefinger and your done..

No, no! Don't apologize!!!

I wanted to emphasize what happened for those who didn't click on the link.

In a brooder that crowded, how can the ones on the outside even make it to the feeder? Where the heck is the water??? Only at one end? So a chick just shipped in has to go from one end of that long crowded brooder to the other just to get a drink?

Gee, I wonder why they had so many dead chicks to throw out?

If they're unwilling to take proper care of them, then they shouldn't be allowed to sell them. I hope they get lots of e-mail and letters over this. Maybe some of the people that shop in these stores could complain to the managers when they see these conditions.

Plus, everything everybody else said.

Yeah to the chicken rescuer that took the time to investigate the noise in a dumpster. That's the kinda moxie more people need.

We ( society) throw away live kittens and puppies

so wee chickens are no shock. However the fact that legal action maybe taken is very good news! Perhaps during baby chick season we all should do dumpster patrol?? !!

Better prepare alot of grief and heartaches of seeing dead chicks and problems from the store that you can not take anything out of the dumpster or trespassing. Stores like that creates a real headaches.
