How do I start this?.....A few years ago I got 9 chicks from my uncle. He shipped them to us through the mail and they all died except 4. Only 2 of those 4 made it to adulthood. My Black Copper Marans roo and my Blue Copper Marans hen. The rooster was really aggressive towards people so we kept him locked up and we let the hen out with us to free range and what not. So she was really friendly towards people. (Her name was Buzz btw ) She would always run up to me when she saw me :D 2 years later we got 6 more chicks from the store and we moved them in with the other 2 when they were old enough. One day during the summer I heard them all squawking really loud so I went to see what was wrong. As I got up to the coop I saw Buzz laying on her side with her legs pointed straight out to the side sticking out of the coop. ( She used to lay like that sometimes in the dirt and i really hated it because I thought she was dead ) As I got closer she didn't move or anything. I got to the fence and she still didn't move so I shook the fence and made noise trying to get her to move. But she didn't. Then I got really scared and my heart was racing. I yanked open the gate and ran into the coop and picked her up and her body was stiff. I knew she was dead but I still shook her trying to get her to move or something. Then I started crying.... I stood there for about 10 minutes just hugging and shaking her and crying.

Oh my goodness Jake I'm so sorry. I wonder how she died? She sounded like a wonderful chicken :)

Oh, Jake, that's just awful. :hit You raised her successfully from that young and then that happened. :( I'm so sorry. :hugs You can tell you obviously loved Buzz and she was an amazing chicken to have come that far. :) It's so hard when you loose a fowl that close to your heart. :hit Did you ever determine the death cause- S.D.S, maybe? :/
