1. SIDE WALL, BOTTOM, same thing. :plbb
Okay, not.
I know I'm going insane. You don't have to point it out- my obtuseness is apparent. :lau
2. It has your name written all over it. :P

Lol :gig Are you?

Well they were gonna go to the fire pit and we were gonna run wire around the bottom but I think I like the logs better.

That is up for debate. :plbb

Well, I totally love how rustic and wild it looks! :thumbsup It'll last a long time due to the denseness, too- am I right?

Exactly! :love
Do you plan to make all of the sides with halved bark, plywood, or something else?

For now all the sides will be the halved bark (or scabs as millers call them.) We know a miller and we can have any and all of the rejected wood or "scabs" (which is the part of the tree they cut off to make it square) we want for free since he just burns it anyway. We have to make a couple more trips over there to take the tree we felled yesterday and a giant oak over. I think dad plans to make the walls 4' or 5' and then run wire the rest of the way, its 7' tall (:yesss: finally a coop I can stand up in!!!! :weee) so that's 2 or 3 feet of wire around the very top.

Lol.

I do too! :highfive: Well its untreated pine and pine is a soft wood that rots fairly quickly but because it has the bark, is off the ground and has a roof it should be around 4 or 5 years before we have to replace the walls and by that time we should have the money to make them out of something a little more permanent.

Esther. What in the name of Sirius is she up to??? :tongue She should be on BYC, not staring at cute guys. :gig

Cute guys? What is that? All I see is chickens. Lol, seriously though, my friends (yeah, I have like two real life friends) ask me who I like and I'm just like...''um. So, let me tell you about my rooster'' two minutes later they are spaced out and telling me I'm weird.

:ep Who meeeeeeeeeeeeee??????????????????! XD

Yeah, I had a dream and it freaked me out.

Dont listen to him Cuz! He is really a ding dong pretending to be Micah Wotring! (NOBODY is gonna get that...)

I know! That is what my dream told me!

Dan, I love your log cabiny coop!

Yeah, when untreated comes into play, it gets irking. :barnie The wild look of a woodland wood coop VS a fake-looking plywood coop that lasts longer, but costs a fortune... :he
I'd go with the soft wildwood any day. Easier to work with for me, too. I've made a few bachelor coops with oak wood, freshly chopped before.

Yeah. Plywood is a fortune, $40 for one sheet :to We'd need like 4 or 5. I would too! Oak is nice. If I had cedar though, that stuff lasts forever!!

It is! We cut a cedar down a couple years ago, didn't have a way to move so we set it on some blocks for for a year and when we did have it milled it was full of termites! :ep I've never seen or heard of termites in cedar, it's supposed to be poisonous to them. Even the miller had never seen that before. Awesome. Do you use an axe or chainsaw?
