Yeah...I think I'm gonna go with ducks anyway though, because they eat less with better production than most geese. Though I might have to get one Toulouse...

OK, so request a catalog from Metzer. On a trip at least 250 miles away from your house to a semi well known place, get a picture of you holding it and get $25.00 Up to three members of the family can get it too, so I'll use my little sisters and get another $50. We are going on two big trips in the next two months, so I'll have $150 between the two by August. :weee

Lol. I already have ducks so...

Oh! Maybe I can get dad to do it. Hmmm I'll have to talk to him when he comes home this week end.

I had two ducks once, and I miss them so much. :(

Does your dad travel a lot in his line of work?

Your dog is gorgeous!

I love my ducks! More than chickens. :hide

Yeah, he's gone most of the year, :hit last year he left in February, got a week off for my sisters wedding in July, went back and came home right before thanksgiving. There was one year he was gone almost 360 days. He works for the railroad.

Thanks :D

If I had both, I'm not sure what I'd enjoy more....they are both very entertaining to watch, chickens are cleaner, but ducklings are cuter, but 28 days vs 21 for hatch, but ducks don't have to have roosts but chickens need a clean coop less.......SEE MY DILEMMA??

Wow, that is rough. Too bad there isn't a limit, but there is a limit of two per person. I can't imagine my dad being gone over half the year. Are you the man of the house or do you have an older brother?

I see it. :P My ducks eat less than chickens though and in my opinion are better foragers (even the Pekins) also better layers, no doubt about that. My ten grown ducks go through a 50lb bag every three to four weeks, I just tripled my flock so I expect to see that go up but still. My ducks almost never take a day off, they laid nonstop from December till the end of April, took five days off and haven't stopped since. Big Mama took five weeks off, set on eggs, raised them to a week and started laying again, she's been laying for almost four weeks and only taken two days off.

Yeah :/ Well we traveled with him the last 9 years so it wasn't too bad though I missed being home. No, I have an older brother.

What breeds do you have/recommend? I really like the looks of Cayugas, and I would love Blue Swedish, Runners are cool too. Do you suggest mixing and matching beds or getting all one breed so I could breed purebred ducks? Will drakes mate with chickens, and roosters mate south ducks?

I would miss home too. I do bet you get to see some cool places though. Lol, I didn't know if ypou were, because you always sound so responsible. We are rattling on about random crazy stuff, and here comes Dan,posting pictures of a chicken coop he is building and, making me feel very lazy compared to him. :lau
