Same here! Stop and talk to the cows. Play with the chicks. Lollygag in the tree farm and take pictures of the butterflies and lilacs. Hold the chickens. So yeah, they get fed, I just spend time with them. And then my mom yells out the door ''Savannah! What the heck are you still doing out there, it is way past breakfast, get your *** inside!''

All very helpful....I just don't know. I'll probably end up going with one of each breed and throw in a random drake and just have mixed breeds...Now to start my list with a $150 budget. I definitely like darker birds. I like the characteristics of Pekins, but plain white...Then again, I'll probably get one. Lol

I would suggest getting at least one pair of a breed you think you'll love, you'll find it easier to sell pures.

My Swede X Pekin drakes are quite pretty and are currently bigger (both beefier and heavier) than my two Pekin drakes. They're huge! Think of a Muscovy drake, they're slightly snaller in size not near as heavy but size wise. They're three months. My Mallard X Pekin is absolutely gorgeous! Black with brown lacing. One I'd like to get though would be a Mallard over Blue Swede

If we have nowhere to go:
6 AM- Go outside
7 AM- Finishes chores
8 AM- Chases the Canadian geese
8:15 AM- Tracks down that little buck, Flame, and tries to pet him
8:45 AM- Randomly heads back to chicken coop
10:45- Mom: "Sarah, did you die?"

I sometimes confiscate the entirety of my stock of schoolbooks and do my entire day's work in the chicken coop. I sit on the roosting bar and have my books on the nesting boxes.

I should do that... Only issue then is I have two duck pens, a breeding pen and the whole flock. The thing with people around here is, they don't care what they get, and they don't want to pay premium price for purebreds when they can get mixed breed for $2-3 cheaper. I had some purebred Buff Orpington chicks I was trying to get $5.00 ape ice for and some mixed breed for $3.00, NOBODY bought the Buffs. All the mixed chic,s are gone. I will probably get a trio of Cayugas....They are like Ayam Cemani ducks.
