I live in Calgary Alberta Canada. The City council here voted against backyard chickens today. The reason being given is that after consulting with the top two veterinarians in Western Canada, they were informed that the spread of avian flu has been directly associated with the increase in individuals (not factory raised) raising chickens. They took this even further and stated that a number of States have had outbreaks because of backyard chicken practices and have restricted the laws against backyard chickens.
I need information, stats, figures...anything that can help me dispell the 'so called' facts of these professionals...or verify them if that's the case.
I appreciate any and all opinions.

I don't know Canadian law, but here in FL, all public records are... well.. public. So if it's anything like here, you could ask to see that information and they have to give it to you. That would be a good start.
