You won't ever completely beat them...lol. You may get a temporary cease fire, but that is about it! The one thing that even the smartest coon can't beat is a good varmint dog patrolling your yard at night! JMO

I've learned so many things about predators in the last few months, I'm paranoid for my birds. It is amazing that we, feather fanciers, are able to keep any birds alive with what is out there just waiting for them. LOL
Sure, that pic is cute, and it looks like it wants to be held, and petted like a pet. Try seeing them when they are fighting over your chicken, or some cat food you left out. Watch what happens when your dog corners one. These cute little fuzzballs are one of the most vicious animals in the woods. Don't be fooled by their cute factor! Any coon seen near my property gets a bullet to the noggin! Trust me, you aren't going to hurt the population of this varmint! JMO, not trying to anger anybody...

Exactly... That pic was at a bit of a distance. I walked up the the guy, he growled, barked, hissed, snarled his teeth and tried to grab my pants though the wires. All the chickens kept a very far distance from that coon. I don't blame him though. If my previous range land was plowed over with development, the trees cut down flat, and then stuck in a cage because there was no natural food left, I'd be angry too. Then again... this is a trash can opening city coon, so as for natural food, he was probably eating out of people's garbage.
Those are the worst silkie, they are people tame, but still wild animals. They aren't intimidated by people at all, and it even makes them more dangerous than the country coons!
