I'm really liking the look and design of this coop but unfortunately there are only minimal dimensions that were given.

I tried putting images on powerpoint to compare known distances to unknowns but it only got me so far.

Known dimensions:
4'x4' area

This is what I drew up so far.
I think my gambrel angle might be off and the size of the cupola

I also don't plan to do the poop board and would like to go deep litter.

Just make the coop best estimate dimensions. As you build, improvise.
For a small 4x4 floor space coop, I personally would not go with deep litter. Deep litter would also work better if it was on earth ground. Try DL in your run area.
How many chickens are you intending on keeping. I know you are in warm climate, so not all your chickens have to be inside coop. A secured run can house your chickens most nights as well. Your predators are also limited in area. Coop housing only necessary for fowl weather.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,, :welcome

Thanks

Yes, I do plan on making the run predator proof so that I don't need to lock them up at night.

Im planning on 4 chickens. My run will be 8x8 or more.

I think I estimated the wall heights correctly. But what worries me is the gambrel. His gambrel looks perfect. I dont wanna make mine and have it look awkward haha.

Also what's the best way to connect the three gambrel supports to the horizontal 2x4 that run the length of the coop? Hurricane ties?

Pretty much everyone uses gussets for securing the gambrels together. What about pocket holes and glue?

Is it necessary to paint the walls on the inside?

Yep.

I'd think with those angles you're better off with gussets.

Not necessary but I painted mine to protect the wood.

@nminusyplusm

Wow thanks!

So maybe a 4x5 or 4x6?

One thing about Hawaii is that we don't have winters. It never gets cold. So I assumed they would spend most of the time outside. I plan to keep the coop unlocked for most of the time.

The only predator that I need to watch out for is mongoose. They can dig but don't burrow so a HC skirt should be fine.

I also drew up a mini woods coop 4x6 and 4 ft high at monitor. I tried my best to follow the actual 10x16 measurements and scale down. My original plan for that was to be placed on the ground but I could see my self having difficulty cleaning it out. Ill sketch a raised one tomorrow.

My mind is not entirely set on the barn coop even though it is the most appealing to me. Open to suggestions!!! I can't do a walk in coop and my budget is around $1000 for coop and run. I also can only shop at home depot.

You can import this into sketchup and trace it out:

but I'd suggest you scale your coop up. 4' x 4' is really small. I know 4 sq ft of coop is the minimum suggested per bird but I think you and your chickens will be so much happier with a little more room.
Sweet!!
Gird is .33" per square?
Can you import a jpg into sketchup?
Jut using a grid could figure heights.

I totally agree! Plus, you may get more birds...Most chicken lovers do!
