Trying my best to recreate this coop. Need advice please!

Thanks everyone.

Ill keep trying lol.

I have been using a gambrel calculator to try and match. I'm starting to think he didn't use one and just did it on the spot.

I estimated the wall of copula at 9-10". Is the peak on his picture 45°? I made mine 45 but now it looks more towards 60.
I don't see any 45° angles and the cupola wall looks around 6" high to me but once you trace out exactly in sketchup you can use the tape measure tool to get the dimension.

Yep x 3.

ETA: I read your .33" as 3" because you're pretty much always spot on.
I have been known to make stupid-bad math errors...like that one. My bran just shorts out, other times booomboomboom right in my head with no errors. Hit the wrong operator this time and never even thought how wrong it was..SMH.
At least I had the right numeral

According to grid cupola is 12" wide(4 squares times 3").
Try 70° included, or 35° each side, for cupola roof angle.

My brain is really bad at simple addition, subtraction, algebra or anything abstract but I love spatial problems.

I finally started building! Its coming along well. I decided to go with 4x4 even though some of you may say its too small.

Nothing is attached yet. Will need to transport to final location.

What does everyone use for their exterior walls? Plywood, Sanded plywood etc? And what thickness?

I was thinking of using this:

LP SmartSide SmartSide 48 in. x 96 in. Strand Panel Siding
https://www.homedepot.com/p/LP-SmartSide-SmartSide-48-in-x-96-in-Strand-Panel-Siding-27874/100055901

And how would i install the trim? Does each window need a frame?
Can I use a Brad nailer and go straight into the siding with nothing behind it?

The Smart Side panels look like fine for the job. Will take your paint well. Your windows will look prettier with a frame around it. Not sure what windows you have or want.
Install your trim with a nailer with no problem. The panels look beefy enough to hold nails. Make sure that if the nails do go thru, you ether bend them over or grind them flat to prevent cuts, punctures to self or occupants.

@cavemanrich
Thanks

When you said your windows will look prettier with a from around it, does it mean trim?
I do plan to do trim around windows.

What I'm curious about is the framing on the inside of the window so that the nails have something to go into other than the siding.

Ok now I get the picture. Yes, it would be a good idea to frame out the inside like with a 2 x 2 lumber. To mount windows I would use screws. Easier if you need to remove for whatever reason in future.

Ok ,,, well, a 2 x 2 backing would still be good in case a raccoon would want to rip out the screen. The wood behind would provide more strength to hold the HC from being pulled open.
