So I'm going to buy a broody hen in order to try it out as a natural incubator. The seller wanted to make sure if I bought 1 hen it wouldn't be lonely. I have an existing flock but was under the impression that broodys should / could be kept separately.

If I purchase 1 broody hen and put it in a coop alone will it be lonely or happy for the peace and quiet?

I'm reading that 2 broodys won't work in like a broody barn because they'll kill each other's chicks. I don't want to introduce a broody hen to our flock, they aren't mean but aren't going to just leave her alone automatically.

I have some gentle chickens that could come hang out with the broody but not live in the coop.

Are you buying a hen that is broody? She may not be broody once she is transferred to a new home. I'm sorry I don't completely understand what your are trying to do.
Yes. I am buying a broody hen to see if she will hatch some chicks for me. I know that people say a car ride and environment change will break their broodiness. Just trying something out.

Moving a hen to an entirely different home and flock, may cause her to break her broodiness, just a heads up. Even if you isolate her from the new flock, No guarantees. Then all you will have is a lonely new chicken.
