Trying the Roo thing...

This flashy cockerel will really amaze you after he molts for the first time and his adult plumage comes in. Look for that tail to become even more outrageous.

Your mention that he minds his own business and doesn't interfere in yours tells me he has a very good temperament for becoming a real gentleman roo. You can only screw things up by trying to force him to interact with you or by going out of your way to interfere with his normal business of learning his role in the flock. As long as you both keep minding your own business, you should never have a problem with him.

He needs a name. King Tut? Charlemagne? Alexander the Great?

I totally agree. I don't interact with him at all really. We just ignore each other. I have no need for a roo, but he can stay as long as he's not a brat. I cant wait until his first molt. One of my EE's just grew back in from her first molt and I cannot believe how pretty she is.
Ive been calling him Rooster Cockburn. My sister calls him Rocky the cocky.

That is such a pretty picture, he looks so regal and smart. Mine looks like he's listening to the wind whistle through his ears, he's handsome but you'd never think he looked smart.:)
Can't do that! There is already a reigning Fabio. And he's a natural blond.View attachment 1615439

Best wishes on your roo journey! :) He's simply gorgeous....and bears a striking resemblance to a Sumatra. :love Boring, eh?;)

Most often, the very best cockerels are those who stay out of your business and mind their own. The fact he's made it thus far is a wonderful sign. Usually, the overwhelming majority of my rambunctious young men have met the chopping block before now.

I have a Fabio, too! He's rather hideous, but still features the luxurious, flowing golden locks. ;)
