Trying to build the ChickenDIYGuides portable mini-coop

Has anyone built from this plan? For my money the plan looks like it has lots of good information and a good design but a little short on specifics. For instance I'm not sure what fasteners I'm supposed to use to edge join 1x4s together. Even if I am able to successfully nail or screw through 3-1/2" of 3/4" thick board into another board of the same dimensions, how much strength is there going to be in that joint? I can't figure out a way to make that a strong joint for a permanently situated coop/run much less one that's going to be moved. I like the idea of using 1x4s for the support trusses to reduce cost and weight but am a little leery of fastening them with screws or nails. I'd be more comfortable using something like Simpson plates to secure them.

Would love to hear from anyone with a successful outcome using these plans.
