My chicks will be 3 weeks on Monday and are jumping out of their brooder. It was suggested on a different thread that I create a temporary coop using chicken wire. They said to create a square that I can tip over to let them in. My question is how would I go about creating and attaching the roof? Also any suggestions to insure it is safe from predators and escapees? They will only be in it during the day as the temps are too low at night right now for them. And it's only temporary until my hubby can finish the coop, he will be gone this whole week for work and then back to it. TIA!

Hello,

I had my chicks about three weeks before adding bantams to my chicken family. Because of this I ended up having to keep them within my home longer, due to the cold weather. At first I used a cardboard box...but ended up having the chickens begin to jump out at about two weeks.

I fixed the problem by purchasing the chicken coop shown below. It did cost about $100.00 but made a great inside coop for me to keep my chickens. With the pull-out floor it was simple to keep the coop clean...and I didn't have to worry about my cats getting into the cage. Furthermore, I can reuse this coop for years and can even transition it outside during the summer...

I hope this helps...
