First of all, they're only a week old. I know that's way too young to be sure of ANYTHING. But any guesses? They're a mystery mix that I managed to hatch. I don't know enough about chicken coloring to know if the various small changes are normal within a "type" or not.
What do you think, is it possible I have five different types? Or are differences like this normal within a type of chicken? All I know for sure is that the rooster was a barred rock.
Thing One. His beak turns red at the end. His feathers are a uniform color all across his wings.
Thing Two has the same wing pattern BUT has "Egyptian Eyes" (black eyeliner wing at the corner of his eyes) and his beak is all one color.
Thing Three goes to cream at the edges. His beak fades to red at the end.
Thing Four is similar to Three, but his wings are differently shaped. The color is slightly different I think?
Thing Five is pure cream. She was too busy digging a baseball sized hole to pose. (Her hole ended up deeper than she is tall. I was worried she'd get stuck)
Them chilling in the sun with Virtue. You can see the wings well. Thing Five was still busy digging a hole and isn't included.
