Black Sex Link would be black with some Copper coloration around the neck. This is Red Sex Link variation.

Whaaaaat? Looks Road island red to me but hard to say for sure . Never seen a Black star that color ?

Hatchery or store was misleading, or the OP remembered wrong. She's a red Sexlink, aka Red Star, Golden Comet, Gold Sexlink, Novagen Brown, and ISA Brown.(hatcheries sell 'em as RIR too, because they're actually easier to...everything.)
