In SE Mchigan, I know of several feed stores and farmers who sell chicks with no minimum purchase. Big Acre in Brighton and Highland Feed in Highland/Milford both stock a variety of chicks from Town Line. There is also Destiny Farms in Brighton, a local farm that specializes in a few select breeds, as well as ducks, turkeys, and veggie plants. If you're willing to drive a little, Painted Dreams Miniature Horse Farm in Imlay City hatches some beautiful Silkie and Polish chicks, among others.

be aware of destiny farms... not the cleanest facility & make sure you call in advance on exactly what she's got on hand! i went expecting 5 - 10 breeds to choose from ,from craigslist advert. disappointed!!!!
