I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I need to find someone who can sell me several newly hatched or day old chicks. I'm in the Sacramento area but will travel anywhere in the San Francisco Bay area. I have a broody that has been setting for three weeks and all her eggs have died. She was scared off her nest three days ago and went back to the wrong nest box. I was away overnight and she was off the nest for 24 hours when I came back and found her. I put her back on her nest and candled the eggs but no movement. I opened one up and it was fully formed but had died. Is there anyone out there who can help me? Thank you.

If nobody here responds, check with your local feed stores. If they don't have a shippment in - - - they may know of an individual locally who always has chicks

I received baby chicks a week ago and I ordered them through the mail from Ohio. The website was healthychicksandmore.com. There is no postage and handling fee and the minimum is 10 chicks per order. They are guaranteed to be alive and healthy when you receive them. The problem with local food stores is that they usually only sell in the spring and are done selling them by now. Good luck on your search!

Have you looked on Craigslist yet? There are normally a lot of people selling chicks on there with lots of breeds. You can also order them online from a hatchery.

:lol I have always had great dealings with My Pet Chicken.com. They always seem to have what you need. From fertilized eggs to dayold chicks. Min order is three on day olds. I live in a small town in Arkansas and my last purchase was for seven day olds. Hatched on a Monday, receivied at my local post office on Wednesday. All alive and kicken'. What ever breed you are looking for, chceck wuth them. If you not sure of a breed, thay have a chicken breed selection tool that I found very helpful. Foog luck and great hatchings!

I second Bradshaw Feed. It's just at Florin Rd and Bradshaw Rd in Sacramento. The staff (most) are helpful and friendly, the chicks appear healthy and they seem well cared for during the duration of their stay. I got 4 chicks from Bradshaw, all thrived and only got 1 cockerel in the bunch and I later learned I may have picked him by his smaller size and lighter color which could have both been signs of a boy. All four grew up happy and healthy, never lost one. I also purchase my feed and all supplies at Bradshaw, they are cheaper then Western Feed and TSC in Galt. I have been very happy with the service I get and I definately reccomend Bradshaw

Close Feed in Hayward (on Industrial off 880) just got in brahmas, marans and some other day-olds, today! I'm heading there tomorrow. They usually get a shipment of day-olds every week - give them a call and they can let you know their schedule. (I think they still had some 1 week olds left too).
