Hello. So I recently got a bantam rooster from my dad to go with my bantam hens, well not quite. But when they started laying eggs I at first just basically threw some in a box and added a light and a thermometer. And basically lost the first months worth cause I couldn't keep the humidity good. So built a new one that is working better, but reading threw this site I've realized I'm doing everything wrong. But anyway I do have one happy healthy baby chick who actually sleeps with me cause I don't want her lonely. But I have quite a few eggs that don't hatch and when I do an eggtopsy, which I check to much and know I do shortly after I don't see them move any more. But there's these gross sacs attached to them and wondering if anyone has seen anything like it and/or what it could be from. I'm planning on buying an actual incubator cause this is killing me. But thank u to this site and it's members for all the great information I've already read. And like I said now I know I'm not doing anything right and can now make sure I properly improve my incubator, and properly take care of the eggs. But just in case there is something else besides just the conditions that could cause this, I thought it best to ask. I apologise for the gross sad picture :`(

That’s the yolk. Right before hatching they absorb that. It’s their first meal full of protein. That’s what keeps them going for 3 days in case they don’t have access to food or water.

They look a bit under developed. I would go ahead and get an incubator.

I can’t say what you did wrong if we don’t get specifics on what you did.

Yep that sack is the yolk. Looks to me like they died about day 14. The last week of chick development is dedicated to growing bigger and absorbing that nutritious yolk. The deaths could be caused by lots of things. Too high temp or too low, fluctuating temps, humidity too low or high. Yes I thank a bator would help a lot. As for your lone chick maybe see if you can find it a friend at a feed store. Happy hatching!
