Trying to integrate new chick

I think for the coop inside u need to have about 4sq foot per bird...it may just be a simple space issue but I can’t see adding an extra bird would be an issue. U may just need to give it some time. It’s hard to see exactly how much room they have in the coop itself.

I know, my pics aren’t the best & I may be off a bit on what the measurements are...my husband built it, doing all dimensions himself. I just stood & handed him things & held things. Lol. Inside the coop it’s self he says there is about 40sq. ft. He says in the run it’s about 120sq.ft. I only have the 4 chickens in the big coop, after I can get the other one in, it will only be 5 chickens total. I am going to keep the rooster separated in the smaller coop.

Can u do the see but don’t touch method perhaps section off part of the run just for the new chicken. Allow them to see her during the day for a couple weeks then let her out there will still be pecking however it may not be as bad. They still have to establish pecking order. When u let her out put an extra feeder and waterer it looks like u only have 1 each in there. Just suggestions on what I would do. Thee see but don’t touch method works great in my opinion. It’s what I have done.

Your welcome. Perhaps put her in there during day but back in her house at night. This way they get used to her and make transition easier. Like I said there will still be pecking etc. when u introduce her but it should be fairly minimal and will settle down. Good luck

Thank you very much for all the suggestions! I have had success!!! My hen has been in with the others for almost two full weeks!

With that, I have another question...
I have already looked into the deformed eggs article & did not see this mentioned.

I went to retrieve eggs & check on my hens late this afternoon. It was just about dark enough for a flash light, but, I could see the shape of the eggs & I started grabbing them & noticed that one of the eggs just didn’t feel right. I turned on my flashlight & pictured below is what I found. Have no clue what this is. Any ideas? It’s not a yolk, there was no egg shell, no blood, it’s kinda rubbery too.

I just looked up lash egg, I think you are spot on. That’s exactly what it looks like.
