Trying to Lay???????

Red comb, spacing on pelvis, but messing in nests is the best indicator that eggs are imminent.

Here's some tips about how to tell.....

I am not good at checking pelvic spacing. I did try it after you posted that link for me about a month ago. Even my layer seems to have a tight pelvis but she's laying either small eggs or long eggs, plus she is a tiny girl. That worries me but I'm hopeful her young age might be a factor and she'll continue to grow and her pelvis will open a bit more with age. She's been laying most days for the past week and a half, but has taken a day off here and there. When she does take a day off, she's carrying on and ready to lay early the next day. Even though she's the smallest, she has quite an appetite :)

If she's laying, her pelvic bones are spread.
How far spread is matter of proportion, the size of the bird and the size of your fingers.
It takes practice, I still have trouble finding them sometimes.
