I only shop at TSC a few times a year -- husband has to do the TSC shopping as I really and truly don't 'trust myself' in that store --
We have horses, dogs, and cats in addition to the six hens --- and every department in TSC has its appeal for me -- I even want to buy things when I don't have a clue what they ARE!? The unknown bolts, tools, supplies fascinate me -- and I somehow missed out on the 'shopping gene' that runs in my family --
So, of course TSC is firmly off-limits during 'chick days' (and don't even get me started on how much I want the bunnies -- all of them!)
This brings me to a point I'd like to make --
So many people criticize TCS clerks who 'don't know anything about chicks' -- how many of us would be able to answer all the questions?!!
Most of the clerks there can/will call someone to help if they don't know the answer -- at our store only one woman working there actually has chickens and she will advise on feed, grit, etc. but even she is hesitant to made a definitive 'call' on breed or gender of the chicks ---
On BYC, one of the most discussed topics is always started by 'What Breed Is This?" --- and don't even bring up the ever popular EE/Ameracauna debate!
People on this site are all interested (obsessed with?!) chickens and the discussions about age, breed, gender, etc. go on and on --- clerks are working hard to make a living -- be kind --
Just sayin'
