TSC Bantam Breeds

When I went by today, it looked like there was a few Old English Game and a Silver Sebright and the other ones, I wasnt really focused on

our tsc had quite a few of the d'uccles and golden and silver seabrights, those are the only ones i knew for sure.... no cochins ..which is what i wanted

i came home with the d'uccles and a seabright and one i have no clue what it is except CUTE. i would suggest looking at pictures of the breeds and what their chicks look like before you go so u know what u are looking for .. the ee's i would imagine would be hard though becasue they can be so varied in their appearance anyways.. good luck going and not succumbing to the cuteness factor even if they don't have the ee's u want

Well I wouldn't be anti silver sebright or d'uccle........but I do NOT want cochins...lol I know a lot of people love them....but I just don't like their tails...lol I've been trying to look at pics...but its hard to tell what features are distinguishing in a lot of photos... Can you tell differences in comb type on the very young chicks they will be selling?....The only chicks I've ever raised (only chickens I've ever owned at all...) were seramas which of course have single combs. I need a chick guide.......lol

Porcelain D'uccle and Mille Fleur Booted Bantam.

These are what I ended up with from the Montpelier VT TSC last April.

so the d'uccles will have fluffy cheeks and feathery legs?...that should be pretty easy to id right?

bantam americanas would have fluffy cheeks too right?...and greyish legs?

Ideal Poultry's website has illustrations of the chicks of each breed that are pretty good. I ordered assorted bantams directly from them and was able to identify many by their pictures. It might help if you can print out the pictures of the ones you want and take those into the store with you to compare to what they have.

My bantam assortment from Ideal has a lot of cochins, old english game, and d'uccles, and I also got a couple of EEs I think. Those are harder to identify because they come in so many color variations, and may not always have beards/earmuffs.

hmmmmmm........I've been on nature's hatchery and I REALLY like the birds they have available....but to get the best deal I'd have to order at least 25 chicks...hmmmmmmmmmmmm crap...lol

My first attempt at buying chicks was a few years ago...I bought a dozen banties at TSC and brought them home...I ended up with a cochins and seabrights...My biggest dissappontment was out of 12 chicks only 3 were hens and the rest were roosters...
