TSC cheapest or better off with a "feed store"

I own my own small feed store-I'm not a feed mill or elevator-just a retail outlet. Personally, I feel that I *care* more about my customer than a big chain-and quality is VERY important to me...I'm pretty picky about the products I carry and try to be as knowledgeable as I can-NOT simply from what the companies teach me, but what I can learn independently.

Often times, a small feed store like me would be more willing to cut prices if it means picking up a new customer-so don't hesitate to ask for negotiating

I just need to get my lazy butt down to the local feed store and check them out.

I still want quality food but if I can get is 2 miles down the road as opposed to a chain store I am all for it. And I noticed when I was searching for their number on line and to see if they had a site there seems to be another one on the same route I live on.

Buying only 50 lbs at a time is driving me nuts. I would like to be able to buy more ( well I guess I could just pick up more 50 lbs bags... wow way too early this morning to be thinking.)

i only buy my layer pellets from TSC because i have coupons and its a lil cheaper. I believe in supporting the local mill, i buy all of my scratch grains, goat feed and sweet feed(for our horses) from the local mill. Most of the grains he uses are produced by local farmers. I dont however like the layer feed that they make. Its a layer mash and its very fine and dusty.

Hi from Ga. On the 1st of the month I check pricing at every feed store within 80 miles to get the cheapest price. TSC is normally the highest. I go thru 1000 TO 1500#S / Month with all my animals So a couple of dollars a bag makes the trip worth while.

I just started getting 100 pounds of laying pellets $10 cheaper at the local mill than two 50 pound bags from TSC. Better betcha I'm going to stick with that!

I have been comparing feeds lately because one of the members on our state group is a rep for Nutreena Feed. I compared theirs, our vita plus feed mill's, farm and fleet and TSC. What I found is that the mill here in town used "real" grains versus the grain byproducts and cereal fines that the other companies use. I feel safer using stuff that I know is the same ratio all the time. It is the powdery mash stuff and my chickens balked at it at first but then started eating it just fine. A short period of adjustment was all it took. I think it might be slightly more expensive like maybe .50 but their customer service is great and if I need to have them set it out for me they will...that helps too if I am a little short for the month!
