Back at the end of July in purchased what was supposed to be 4 buff orpingtons hens from tractor supply. So it turns out I ended up with too roosters and two hens. They are 9 weeks today

I am still uncertain what breed they are. According to AI, they could be welsummer, brown leghorn, or a brown leghorn mix. I am leaning towards the brown leghorn because of the white earlobes.

Any guess? Probably have a definite answer once they start laying.

Also, the larger cockerel is extremely docile.

Thanks in advance

What did they look like as chicks? Buff Orpingtons and Brown Leghorns look very different as chicks, which is why I'm asking. It might help narrow down what breed they are.

They do look like brown leghorns to me. But I'm very new with chickens, so let someone else weigh in here.

And wow, TSC messed that one up. Wrong breed and 50% wrong gender. Maybe the signs didn't get switched from BO pullets to leghorn straight run or something. Sorry about your mix up, but I hope you've at least got good birds and you can keep your males.

I went back the very next day after doing a little research and told them I didn't think they were buff orpingtons. The lady said some chicks show up from the hatchery without labels so they have their "chicken expert" ID them. I asked what qualifies that person as a chick expert and they replied back, "they have their own chickens" 😆

Yeah I can and will keep them...my daughters named them the first day we brought them home

Are they close to 3 weeks or so in this picture? I'm still thinking leghorn works here.
The blackish head/black ring around next cockerel is 100% NOT a brown leghorn. A brown leg cockerel would be black BREASTED, golden head. The brown back, golden headed, light brown breast pullet very well could be a brown leghorn.

I think they must be using that term loosely, lol. The guy that sold me my second group from Rural King thought bantam was a whole breed, like turkey or Guinea. I asked what their minimum was, and he said it was 4. So I told him I wanted 4 from the assorted bantam bin. He said, "oh well then it's a minimum of 2. It's 4 for chicks, but for other breeds like guineas and turkeys and the rest, it's a minimum of 2." All I knew to say was, "4 is good."
