Thank you. We eat about 2 dozen eggs a week, so we are hoping too get some good layers.

I got an assortment at our TSC. The label read RIRs, RSLs, New Hampshire, or Tetra Tints. They were mixed so I have no idea what is what until they are grown, but they look just like your babies.

Hi! I am also new here. I have 5 big girls that I've had for about a year plus...they were "teenagers"? [just getting ready to lay eggs] when I got them so I didnt have to worry with doing anything special........I just bought some rhode island reds from TSC last week. I am having a bit of a problem trying to find some info on here......perhaps someone can lead me in the right direction? If so, thanks! Anyway......the new babies I got last week.......I am trying to find out if I have to give them any medications? I asked at tractor supply.....a girl who works there told me to give them "duramycin-10" in their drinking water for about a month. When I got home, I checked this site to see if I could find out how much of the powder to add to the water......well, I saw a post where it said NOT to feed the babies antibiotics unless they were already sick. Now I am really confused! Course, it doesnt take much to confuse me anyway lol. But seriously, if anyone can direct me on this I sure would appreciate it.

A little more info......I am guessing my new babies are about 2 maybe 3 weeks old? They have all started to sprout feathers on their wings and tail [except for one who still has "fluff" for a tail]........I am feeding them "Dumor starter/grower 20%" chick feed. I tried giving them a little treat of a hard boiled egg the other day, but they werent interested in that...yet! I am sure with time they will love it like my older girls do.

Again, thanks for any help you can give me. Pat

ps-sorry for hijacking this post......besides not finding the info I was looking for about medication/antibiotics.....I couldnt figure out how to start a new topic/post. Ugh....I am pretty pathetic lol

This is one of the bantams i got from tsc - sorry the pic is not so great - does anyone know what breed this is? He looks greyish and has a little ball of fur on his forehead. It's feet are black and feathered.

Heehee the little caramel colored one with the chimpmunk stripes on it's back is a Gold Sex-link (also called a Gold Comet). VERY good layers, and very docile. Good laying birds!

They look JUST like my lil red hens did as chicks....I have pics of them grown up in the intro section. My girls also came from TSC from the assorted pullet bin. Let me dig up there baby pics and I'll post a pic of when I got them.

Looks like you have

white legghorn's
RIR
