Hi! I am also new here. I have 5 big girls that I've had for about a year plus...they were "teenagers"? [just getting ready to lay eggs] when I got them so I didnt have to worry with doing anything special........I just bought some rhode island reds from
TSC last week. I am having a bit of a problem trying to find some info on here......perhaps someone can lead me in the right direction? If so, thanks! Anyway......the new babies I got last week.......I am trying to find out if I have to give them any medications? I asked at
tractor supply.....a girl who works there told me to give them "duramycin-10" in their drinking water for about a month. When I got home, I checked this site to see if I could find out how much of the powder to add to the water......well, I saw a post where it said NOT to feed the babies antibiotics unless they were already sick. Now I am really confused! Course, it doesnt take much to confuse me anyway lol. But seriously, if anyone can direct me on this I sure would appreciate it.
A little more info......I am guessing my new babies are about 2 maybe 3 weeks old? They have all started to sprout feathers on their wings and tail [except for one who still has "fluff" for a tail]........I am feeding them "Dumor starter/grower 20%" chick feed. I tried giving them a little treat of a hard boiled egg the other day, but they werent interested in that...yet! I am sure with time they will love it like my older girls do.
Again, thanks for any help you can give me. Pat
ps-sorry for hijacking this post......besides not finding the info I was looking for about medication/antibiotics.....I couldnt figure out how to start a new topic/post. Ugh....I am pretty pathetic lol
