TSC ducklings!

Quote:
Are there any other TSC's near-ish you? If so, give them a call and see if they have what you are looking for.
Our local one (15 mins away) was out of ducks. Our other TSC (30 mins away) had what I think were pekins and one was crested.
Or any feed stores?

We have three TSC and two other feed stores in our area, but only the TSCs have chicks and ducklings right now, anyway, one TSC had only yellow chicks and the other only had these and mallards. I bet you can find another TSC in your area with differant breeds.

I am on the border of Mass and Connecticut, and got the Mallards in CT. I went to the one near me in MA and they also had Mallards, but our state has a minimum purchase of 25 ducks. Another feed store had a listing on CL for Campbells but was already sold out, only had white Muscovies. He may get some next week or the week after. Are ducks like chicks in that you want the ages really close or will a week or two not make a difference?

Yeah they definately look like Campbells.

My TSC (which I work at... try to avoid getting chicks and ducks then!!!) had Swedish and so I bought two blue, a black, a splash, and the only solid white.

Ducks are cuter than chicks, but SOOO much messier. A duckling is harder to care for than a chick, BUT a duck is easier than a chicken. Go figure. You take the good with the bad.

I probrably shouldn't have since I have call ducks on the way, but I got a pond half way dug out and this gives me motivation to keep going with it. I already have three ducks (two white crested and a mallard/pekin cross) so I'm looking forward to having a purebred flock. Previously I had Khaki Campbells, but mine were too flighty for my taste and I let them (14!!) go to a really nice guy who had two much bigger ponds for them.

Anywho... enjoy them!! my 5 ducklings have really come around to being friendly. They were skiddish at first.

My local TSC had the cambells too. It was tempting not to buy. The other had mallards, and the other was all sold out. (Yes I went chick/duckling searching).

If I see swedish there on monday I may cave and bring home a few ducks. However, I am NOT looking forward to the mess again. The mallards last year were horrible. Got my scovies when they were old enough to go right outside.... I should just do that again this year lol
