TSC failed me

7 weeks ago I bought 20 chicks from TSC I bought 10 black sex links and 10 barred rocks. When I got home we actually had 21 chicks and 7 of them had feathered feet. I think the ones with the feathered feet are either a maran crossed with barred rock or a barred rock crossed with a cochin. They were all supposed to be sexed but 7 of the have very red combs and wattles already so I think they gave me 7 roos. Next time I will just order some.i will attach pictures of my flock when I get home.

If the feathered legs are BCM x Barred Rock, they are a sex link hybrid. By 7 weeks any that are Males should be showing barring. Females will feather out to look like a Black Copper Marans and lay darker brown eggs sometimes speckled. This hybrid is sometimes called a Midnight Majesty Marans depending on the hatchery. Personally I would be giddy to have these over a Black Sexlink.

Oh no! I knew that breeds and genders were frequently mixed up, but I didn't know that you could end up with crosses (other than those being sold as something particular, like Eggers, etc). But just to get a random cross and have to figure out what it may be, I hadn't thought about that before.

If the feathered legs are BCM x Barred Rock, they are a sex link hybrid. By 7 weeks any that are Males should be showing barring. Females will feather out to look like a Black Copper Marans and lay darker brown eggs sometimes speckled. This hybrid is sometimes called a Midnight Majesty Marans depending on the hatchery. Personally I would be giddy to have these over a Black Sexlink.

Just my opinion.

All the ones with the red combs and wattles with feathered feet have barring.

they are probably barred cochins which are super cool

Do cochins have white or yellow feet these have have feet except for one which has yellow feet
