TSC? Handcuffs? Wow.

I agree- our store really wants to help folks, so they have me and another gal come in to teach poultry classes on Saturdays for 8 weeks. It's precisely what all of us would want in a store, and it's the same corporation, so I wouldn't characterize the chain by that store. That manager needs to be spoken to by you, and you really need to call corporate. That's a ludicrous situation to have been placed in, and I doubt the manager would have approved.

HOW can someone call the cops on you for telling them they arent doing their job correctly? (not that its really your place to even do that at all..but whatever..)
I would have stayed right there and waited for the cops to come, to find out what "arresting" charges they could even have for that.... it simply makes no sense to me at all...
Unless..
Did you get REALLY belligerent and were you REALLY arguing with the guy and making a public disturbence in the store? Did he ask you to leave and you refused?
Because they do not have to wait on you if you are being rude and causing a disturbence in their store.....
Thats the ONLY reason i can think of that he could have legally called the cops on you.... no way they would come out for you just telling the guy he mis-marked the chicks!!... LOL

So... if what you say is correct and you were just simply telling the guy that the chickens were mis-labeled...... then the police would have had no reason to arrest you at all....
I TOTALLY would have stayed put and seen what happend when the cops showed up....
Sorry you were treated so badly... and yeah... if you really feel like you didnt do anything wrong...PLEASE do call corporate on the guy....they NEED to know whats going on in that store.

After the post the other day with the ridiculous response regarding the tetra tint chicks, I emailed them because I was totally disgusted...

I just wanted to let your company know that the way you sell chicks in
your stores is deplorable. Having employees that know nothing about
chicks is beyond irresponsible. People who come in looking to purchase
need to know what they are getting. Having chicks in mislabeled means
that people will be purchasing animals that they may not be prepared to
care for. I have heard stories of your employees selling male sex-link
chicks as pullets. They are visibly different even as day old chicks!
Many areas don't allow people to get roosters. So now these people have
taken home six birds that are going to be roosters and they are going to
have to get rid of them! That's insane! Your company ought to be
ashamed. Either discontinue selling chicks, or make sure your employees
know what they are doing.

This is what I got in return

I don't know anything about TSC,as we don't have anything like that around here. However,if it is a large chain store, you best believe they have a customer awareness line.I worked for The Home Depot for quite a few years as an FES and MOD.The way the chains work with managers is you will have a STORE MGR and sometimes up to 3 ASST MGRs.Usually an Operations,a merchandising, and a night/receiving mgr. When the SM/ASM are not on shift, your dept supervisors serve as MODs (manager on duty). They are required to act as mgr in neccesary situations. If he had actually called the police,he would most probably had been the MOD. These chains lately have been trying to focus on 'customer service'(haha). In doing this they have been 'investigating' customer reported issues. If the complaint is harsh enough, such as yours, it would be internally investigated and could lead to suspension and/or termination. I have dealt with our awareness lines MANY times with complaints on one of our associates or another.

I would call corporate and file a complaint,as well as find out who the actual site mgr is and have a word with them.If they value their job, something will be done.

In the beginning they didn't have the railings up around the chicks until last few weeks claiming children were harming the chicks in this day an age who allows their children to walk alone in a store let alone in Texas where people's children are always being taken from stores. I know I would never allow my children to roam a store unattended.

There was a couple standing next to me and there was no employees around so I quickly told them a way they can tell the sex by the feathers and that pullet meant girl and straight run meant taking a chance of getting a rooster.

When the employee came up the girl asked could she pick up and look at the chicks she was interested in and they told her NO point one out and we will pick it up and put it in the box. The girl reached into the box to look at the chick and the Employee told her she couldn't do that until she was out of the store. If she was going to buy them then she needed to go pay for them first.

I don't like this because I am a hands on buyer I want to see what I am purchasing before I lay my money down.

The employees are getting ruder, and of course I know there are some not so nice customers but when someone is speaking to them in a kind soft voice I don't understand why they have to get so ugly or pushy. A lot of people don't know how to find private breeders, and even those who do like my self who has dealt with a private breeder I ended up with more roosters than I needed 15 chicks only 6 was pullets and maybe that is the chance we take but I felt it was quite unfair to get that many roos and put forth that much money. I kept them , and just said I learned my lesson , it was very well learned and I won't do that ever again.

I don't feel like you did anything wrong, sure the customers need to learn what to buy and should do their research before hand.
But at the same time to threaten you with the cops and humiliate you in front of people is not ethical or logical.

You was not a threat to that person at all........shame on them. I hope TSC cleans up their act cause they are going to start losing a lot of people who spend a great deal of money with them.

My tractor supply in in the country so all the people that work there know what they are doing!!!! all of them have chickens and livestock!! well except there was this one awful ruse guy who basically thre the chicks into the bin and when i say threw i ment like he was throwing a base ball into it!!!! it wasnt right!! at all so he got fired

WOW!!!

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I would definately write the corporate office. Just send the link to your post that we are all reading LOL.

To be honest, I do use TSC because they carry Purina feed but I have low expectations of their help and therefore I'm not disapointed.
If they stopped selling Purina, I would stop going.
