Ahhhh the most annoying question from a newbie… WTF are my chickies?

Obviously not the gold laced Wyandotte we were told lol. We'll focus on Hailey for this thread

Hailey is the buff chick in the back. Feathered out quickly, chonky, chill as a cucumber.

This is Harper. Mr Deathwish. Obviously a roo, sassy, will get in the dog's face, first to the food, kids are now afraid of him

I really feel that Hailey just doesn’t act like a roo, but would love input from y’all!

After looking it up, that’s the closest I’ve seen yet! Thank you, they sound like amazing birds and his personality definitely fits. We’ll have to keep an eye out for more next year

You would need at the very least 20 girls for 2 boys. I have 23 hens for one rooster and its plenty. I dont even recommend keeping them both, unless you have a whole lot of hens.

I wouldnt keep the mean cockerel. He sounds like he would attack anf flog your kids one day...

I see a Bielefelder cockerel and a RIR cockerel.

I love my Bielefelder. He's huge, gorgeous, and fairly gentle. He went after me once or twice when he was under a year old, but no unprovoked aggression since he's been full grown. I can let him wander the yard with my one year old, and as long as she doesn't try to pick him up and pet him, they get on fine. I've had RIR roosters twice, and both times they were jerks who ended up becoming soup. So, my personal biased advice is keep Hailey and ditch Harper.
