TSC strikes again. What is this poor thing?

If the legs are yellowy, I'd say Welsummer or Brown Leghorn. :)

I was wondering about the welsummer

too

They sell hybrids that look like that, too. A Rainbow or Calico Princess sort of thing. Could be a production red. They can look pretty chipmunkish. I don't see green legs or bearding so I don't think EE and the markings aren't very crisp nor are the legs bright yellow so I don't think brown Leghorn. Maybe Welsummer but I have a feeling it's a hybrid dualie.

The EE at feed stores do not have cheek puffs or any other markings blatant farm yard
mixes often
There's no standard so they don't necessarily look "typical" but when there is literally nothing that looks like a typical EE about it save the wild type markings, it's probably not an EE. And I know there is at least one EE breeder here who got her stock from Ideal and has proof they were pure for the blue shell gene. They aren't "barnyard mixes", that's a myth.
