TSC taking my name and number just for buying chicks?

Ok, showing my yellow fluff here, but what is TSC? I'm sure that I've seen them, but I'm not recognizing what it stands for....

Gosh, Tractor Supply has ALL my information, down to my cell phone. I give them my number and I don't pay sales tax on agriculture related products including Feed.

For Telemarketers- Ask them for their home phone number and ask them when they get off. Explain that you are busy right now but would love the opportunity to talk to them via phone call when they are home like you are.

For places you have done business with, and for non-profit organizations and political groups, there is no protection against solicitation calls from them, but for any business or service you have not patronized, the Federal No-Call List is a great protection.

If you don't want TSC calling you after they take your information, you might have success if you send a request in writing (and keep a copy on file) to their headquarters, saying you do not want any calls from them, period. It may or may not help but at least you tried.

TSC or other business will ask but you don't have to give. They want your info. so they can track your buying habits and sell lists to other businesses. If you give a postal code, expect flyers. If they say its so you don't have to show a receipt for returns, don't lose the receipt if it is important, and just say NO.

If your kids are with you and they picked out some cute chicks, its time for them to learn about decision making and hard choices. I wouldn't allow that to blackmail me into giving out information that is no one's business. I also would not lie in front of them to a cashier. The kids will be fine and won't turn into axe murderers because they didn't get their "chicks now".

Thank you, everyone, for your replies!

when i worked at TSC, I found out the way the company gets away with selling your telephone number is pretty sneaky. yes it is true that when they are asking for your number at the end of the sale, THAT information wont be going to any telemarking company. HOWEVER... if you pay with a check. BINGO!!!! If the store uses a telecheck system, THAT'S how your number is getting sold. pretty sneaky eh?

I have given my number to TSC and I have never recieved a phone call from them, and I very seldom if ever get a phone call from a telemarketer. Now if you want to talk about politicians-- I get those calls all the time.

Radio Shack used to collect the customers' telephone number and address. That is a very valuable commodity. They sell this information to telemarketing firms. Give your number and address, and you will be receiving a lot of telephone calls from strange talking people in India.

I no longer shop at Radio Shack.
