TUMOR ON BEAK SPREADING VIRUS WHAAAAT?

Well, a little cup as water, and a long bowl like thing as a feeder. She wasn't on wire for a while now, just tissue. I noticed my males one has a scab.. Will it go away?

PS. Your female is gorgeous :D

Okay :), I was wondering if the feeder or water was scraping the group in the same way (if it's not a virus). My hardware cloth turned abrasive from her pacing it during most egg times, wondering if your caging may have the same effect.

If it is an abscess, they can be contagious to the group if they were touching the same spot the first affected girl did with a wound to get the infection in? Hypothetically, if hers is an infection and she rubbed it against the wire and the others paced against the wire too, they could get it I'm guessing :O

Maybe contact some big quail farms and/or wherever you would send a suspected sick bird to be dissected the pics/story for their opinion, they may have experience with it?

P.S. Thanks for the compliment about my quail hehe she had also chipped the tip of her beak in that picture too - a wild woman of the aviary

Maybe your right about the water spreading thing! OH NO! I MOVED THE FEMALE THAT WAS DEVELOPING IT INTO THE BIG CAGE :OO I MOVED HER BACK AGAIN, HOPE ITS NOT TOO LATE.. Ill see what farms I can find.. And you may be right about the spreading from drinking water because I remember switching the two bowls for the male that has it now! Thank you!

I'm having more feet problems D: So, I think its getting a little too cold in the garage because I noticed one of my females feet are slightly red. Also, I'm loosing my bond with her!! I'm trying to give as much attention that I can to her but I think she's starting to hate me now D: I take her out of the cage, let her down on the garage floor. As soon as I do, she starts sprinting away from me.. I feel like I'll need to actually hatch one of the eggs myself so that they'll actually like me :(

As long as they have dry plush bedding to huddle up on, their feet should be okay, their chests are surprisingly hot when they hunker down! My chickens get redness on their feet when they're out in the cold foraging, sometimes even in a bit of snow :p

I would suggest keeping your quail in the cage when you interact with her, my pet group is friendly in their cage but can act differently at least at first when they're "thrust into a completely strange and open environment with no familiar escape route" aka taken out of the cage to them ;)

Use your sing song voice every time you walk by, even if you don't stop to see her just acknowledge her sweetly. If she starts stretching when you talk to her that's a good sign she likes you/is comfortable around you.

I would bring her a small bit of treats she loves at least once a day (careful not to over treat her) using your sing song talk so she can replace her association of you with "he's coming to get me and take me somewhere ahhhh!!" To "ohhh it's my friend! Does he have treats? I want to see him and maybe even let him pet me a few times (but not harass me) while I'm eating those treats!" :p!!

Thanks! I think I realized why she started to run... Recently I took her inside and she usually just sits there, and then all of a sudden she flew pretty high, but then fell back down. Ever since I clipped her wings all she's been trying to do is fly!! In a way I feel sorry.. But if she wants go outside I'll have to clip them again!! Also, can I put pine shavings in her cage for her and her friend to cuddle up in? Thanks!

She could be associating you with that wing clipping experience but she should get over it with some effort on your part :)

Yes they would love the shavings - I sometimes bury my quail in them while they dust bathe in the shavings and they love it hehe.
