Our sweet Skippy has a slow growing bump near her beak. I hoped it was just abscessed. We lanced it, and only blood came out. No pus. This leads me to believe it's a tumor. How do I remove the Tumor? Do I just cut the whole thing off and put Neosporin on the open wound?

Welcome to BYC. Can you find a vet locally to see her? I would look at your feeders and waterers, and also fencing to see if anything is sharp and could have lead to this wound. It could be cancer, but I would investigate.

Is there any of the growth in the roof of the beak? What color is it? With the growth extending down to the beak, it may well be cancerous. Let us know how this gets along, or if you find a vet for a consultation. Do you have a state poultry college that might let you send in some photos online to look at?

I don’t think I would try to remove it myself.

Hi, there is no growth on the roof of the beak, but it is swollen on the roof causing her beaks to misalign. Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding an avian vet, so I came here. I will see if I can connect with a state college. Thank you for the suggestion.

I think I have the same thing going on with my hen. This is towards the bottom of her beak and seems to be crusting up inside the bottom of her beak filling it up. It looks like dried up dirt. We took her out and tried aspperating it. My wife poked it and it only bleed. We put peroxide and salty water on it and it cleaned up a little. But it didn’t help much. Pictures enclosed. Please let me know if there is any help for her.

Poor thing. I'll let you know if I learn of anything. Does yours have any other symptoms like sneezing, lethargy ect.? Mine doesn't. She seems healthy otherwise.
