Tums!!!

My chicken has a major calcium issue and the vet asked me to give her Tums. He didn't say how much and the office is closed right now. Ideas?

At least a whole one tonight if it is approximately 500mg.
If you put it in a sandwich baggie and whack it with the flat bottom of a spoon a few times it will break into pieces.
It’s easier to get them to eat it that way like a treat.
If that doesn’t work you can smash it to a powder, mix it with a tiny bit of water and give it to her with a syringe.

Call them in the morning.

I would imagine you could also crush it into a powder and mix it into something like oatmeal for them.

I use my Coffee grinder. And I use two Tums. Sprinkled it on feed or dissolved it in a small bowl of water.
