so this little cutie came in the mail today. Not a breed I would have picked (a little weird looking) but it was a surprise special.

Anyway, what are turkens like? Are they mean, friendly, shy, smart, stupid.....? Do they lay well?

Is it normal for their crop to be so visible (after she ate, I thought she'd developed some weird tumor, then figured it out)

so is it normal for their crops to be so visible? It's kinda freaking me out? It does seem to get bigger and smaller, so i guess its working ok

Seeing their crop is normal.
They are very hardy and funny to watch.
One warning - when mine were small enough to stick their heads out of the chicken wire they would occasionally get a little scratch on the exposed part of their neck. A little antibiotic ointment and a day of separation for healing and all was fine.

Turkens are one of my all time favorite breeds, they are smart my dealings with them is that mine have all been extremely gentle, excellent layers, great broodies and mothers.. And the visible crop is normal.
