Turkens!!!!!

I love mine as well. I decided to downsize and Im only keeping my Standard NNs for layers. I have bantam NNs as well, but I decided to sell them, hopefully someone will buy them! lol.

I dont have a Standard roo yet, but I might be searching for one. They are way too cute as chicks, I gotta have some more!

I have a buff colored one with a tuft who lays 5-6 eggs a week even now. She is also very friendly. I am definatley getting more. My friend also had one, she is red with a ring of feathers around her neck like a boa and thick black eye makeup--her name is Cleopatra and she is gorgeous!

One of our hens was taken by a hawk when she was younger. My wife found her laying in the woods, a bit torn up and dazed. We kept her in the house for awhile and cared for here, she is quite tame, while her twin hates to be petted. Handling makes a difference in temperament, for sure.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! We got two turken chicks today and another pipped!!!!!

I want a few NN but im in Kansas and it can get pretty cold here, how do they do in below freezing weather, sometimes dipping down to the single digits? Also do they sunburn very easily?

I have 2 NN pullets that have done well with the cold temperatures this winter. I don't know about how sensitive they are to the sun since I got these late in the summer.

I have one that came with my assorted lot from McMurrays last July. She is tufted on the neck, her name is Princess. She is one of my favorites (although I did think she'd be at first) she is a egg laying machine and extremely broody! She'll sit on cluster of eggs all day if I let her but since we do not have a rooster, it's kind of pointless. She will be assigned to some hatching eggs I plan to purchase this spring, she has proven herself worthy of the task!

I live is SE Kansas and my turkins do fine in this weather...they like going out in the snow and dont seem to mind the weather as much as the others do. Blondie would go out every day if i let them. Sometimes when we get alot of snow they just get to stay in the run and coop but she loves going out and greeting me each day. Frosty on the other hand dont mind hanging in the run. I think he just likes staying close to the food...Thats roo's for ya. I will be getting more this spring.
