Turkenstein25's Turkey Talk for 2015

Can anybody tell me if both of my Narragansett poults are really Narragansett? They have always been very different from each other, and I just put it down to variations within the breed. But now that their feathers are changing, I can't believe they are even both the same kind of turkey.

But what do I know? An internet search for photos was pretty inconclusive, so I wanted to ask the experts here.

The dark one is Cranberry and the lighter one is Muffin. Muffin is a couple of weeks younger than Cranberry. I suspect at this point that they are both female. It's hard to take their picture when they are mobbing me. I had to go to the other side of the fence just to get a little ways away from them.

I would say muffin is a. Narri. Cranberry looks like a mix.

i would say cranberry is a narragansett. muffin, id say is a bronze or a bronze narragansett cross

Well gonna have to hope the nests my royal palmhens are setting on have a good hatch.

I have only hatched 2 palms in incubator.

Went to check on a tom I let out to free range with the others today and found my palm tom dead in the yard.

My guess is the toms got to fighting and one got a lucky peck. He had just a little bit of blood on side of head other than that no visible injuries and he never acted sick.

Hmmm... I guess I need a tie breaker. Anyone else?

Feedman, that's just rotten about your tom.

While Muffin looks more Narragansett than Cranberry (definitely beautiful non-Narragansett colors there), until Muffin's adult plumage is in, It's hard to tell the purity.

Thank you. The more searching I've been doing, the more it seems like Cranberry might be Standard Bronze, except she doesn't quite fit that, either. Mostly what photos I can find are either tiny babies, or full adults. There aren't a whole lot of photos of the intermediate stages to compare to.

Is there anybody in Indiana with a very young male Narragansett for sale?
