Turkey age

Bourbon Reds are optimally slaughtered at 28 weeks. By then Toms weigh around 10 kilograms (22 pounds) and hens 6 kilograms. Most people raise them to be ready by Thanksgiving or Christmas.
 
We hatch turkeys in May to process them just before Thanks Giving. So they are abut six months.
