Turkey and Poults... X 6

Well......momma turkey did it. Shadow hatched 6 little ones a few weeks ago. I finally got to count them as she has them out and running around now. I know I wont let a turkey hen hatch again, without a seperate pen...and a reach in feeder and waterer. When her babies were about a week old, I tried to get in the pen and get feed and water to her..well, in no time flat, she had me on the wall...not ONCE...but THREE times!! 5ft wingspan...and HUGE claws...flying at me. Luckily I had on Jeans, and she didnt tear through. I threatened her with a roasting pan! LOL So, here she is...with her babies...

Shadow is the Blue Slate..she is the "momma"

TRUST ME!! I am only 5 ft tall...so haveing a puffed up, hissing, 3 ft tall turkey momma coming at ya, and slamming you against the wall.... 3 times....NOT a fun day. LOL

Oh, I called her a few names I cant type on here. LOL She does get to live to see anothre summer! LOL

Good job on them poults.

Yes it makes it really nice to have a pen separate for the hen if you are going to let her sit on the eggs and hatch them.

I didnt really want her to set them..I was taking the eggs...then..she hid them..and GOOD too. She kept throwing straw on top, and I didnt see them in there....untill it was too late....the "MONSTER TURKEY HEN" was in action. setting tighter than a tick on a coonhound!

Now, how am I supposed to get them away from her...to sell them!??

im NOT going in there after them!!!
