Turkey attacked my husband.

If you want to lose the battle, then give in and get rid of the turkey and the rooster, if you want to win the battle, fight back!! You dont have to maul the bird, but show it whos boss. If it comes at ya, kick it. Grab it and hold it to the ground by the head. Ever watch a rooster fight that doesnt end in death? The winning rooster pins the other roosters head down and lays a whooping on it, and if the rooster that is losing can get away, it avoids the winning rooster at all cost, you dont have to whoop it, but turn it submissive.

We have a white bantam cochin rooster that is the biggest woosy, he has 2 1/2" spurs but gets his but whooped everyday by tiny silver duckwing rooster!

Put the gloves on and fight back!............Jason

I suppose some turkeys might be different than others.. Right now I have Bourbon Red and my tom comes to me all the time.

I rub his head

and so far he hasn't been aggressive to me ..

But when I take out the 3 and 5 gallon waterers to clean and refill, he will attack those ...

I can carry a 5 gallon black bucket and no problem, just thouse 2 items so far..

Back in 1978 roughly I had bronze turkeys then... Early spring, chilly morning bright sunshine feeling good.. I rub my hen which was cooing/purring sound, when that turkey jump up and hit me in the back...

This is the type of chickens I have Silver Phe and Red Jungle Fowl.. They are wild in a sense,, Took them like 3-4 months before they would come out into the yard..

I'd sit in a chair and my turkeys were all over me, but the chickens would hug the woods..

Later when they got more relaxed (so to speak) is when the Roos decided they kick my butt.....

All but 2 Roos went into the skillet.....

lol, I fight with different rules. If a rooster or tom attacks me, I show it whose boss by doing it in and having a tasty dinner that night. It might just be my nature, but I refuse to let a bird think its going to kick my butt and get away with it. Forgiveness dosen't come easy. Plus, if you cull them, it gives you an excuse to get more, and for a little while, its less strain on your wallet, because you don't have to buy as much feed. When I look at a rooster that has reached the age of fighting back, I already have a list of reasons why I want to cull him so him giving me an excuse just makes it easy, lol
