Turkey Chicks and there Brooder!

We are getting 2 turkey chicks that hatched yesterday later today and I just wanted to know if this would be al right for them?

It's got a red heatlamp in there but it's not very warm

should I use a heat mat aswell I don't think it owuld burn the chicks because of the bedding but any suggestion please

If you place a thermometer on a book about the thickness of a chick's height, and it measures 90-95F you'll be just fine. Put it in the warmest spot you can see. The chicks will move in and out of the heat anyway. Make sure their drinking water is WARM, not cold, and contains a non-iron multi vitamin supplement. I use drops intended for kiddies, just two or three drops into about 600ml of water.
